Sometimes I include talking animals ... I don't consider it a personal failing. If animals never talked in the comic strips, half of them would go away, and newspapers around the world would fold.
These poor, innocent old pictures were just minding their own business, hurting no one until I came along & started putting words in their mouths. I do NOT own the rights to these images, but the humorous (I hope) captions are my own invention. Thank you.

Sherlock Holmes & the Ugly Falling Out
As much as I enjoy other iterations & updates of the Homes / Watson canon, the portrayals by Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce will always have a special place in my heart.
Nancy Drawn & Quartered
So apparently, they made a series of "Nancy Drew" films beginning in the 30s, starring a young Bonita Granville (not to be confused with bonita flakes, which our cat could just kill you for).
Fahrenheit 451 meets net neutrality
:
Like most kids, I read Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" while still in the throes of puberty. It stirred the ol' adolescent idealism, but in the 1970s it was easy to dismiss its message with a shrug and say, "It can't happen here."
Those days are gone.
